By car. About 15 minutes from the airport; from Seminyak, Canggu or Ubud allow considerably more for traffic. Public transport does not serve Serangan in any practical way, so most guests book a chauffeur-driven transfer and keep the driver on standby.

The layout reads family-friendly: open-air, low-rise over three floors, with a waterfront promenade and none of the crowding of a tower mall. A detailed list of family facilities has not been published, so we cannot confirm nurseries or play areas. Go early, keep the car on standby, and build in a promenade stop.

Outlet centres sell brand merchandise at reduced retail prices, usually past-season or outlet-line stock. Duty-free, such as T Galleria by DFS, sells current-season goods with tax removed for eligible departing travellers. Different mechanics, and serious shoppers often do both in one day.

Malls, department stores and brand boutiques take Visa and Mastercard as standard. Markets, warungs and small vendors remain cash territory, so carry rupiah in small notes. One practical rule: when a terminal offers to charge your card in your home currency, decline and pay in rupiah.

Sanur is the classic family base: calm, flat, walkable, with Bali Island School and the Australian Independent School nearby. Canggu and Berawa put you close to Canggu Community School and newer villa stock; Umalas is quieter; Nusa Dua and Sawangan offer gated communities. Match the school first, then the villa.

The established names are Green School Bali, known for its bamboo campus; Canggu Community School; Bali Island School in Sanur, which runs the IB programme; and the Australian Independent School, also in Sanur. Waiting lists vary by year group, so families relocating mid-year should contact schools early.
