Two roads and a lane
Canggu grew along its roads rather than into a centre, so where a shop sits tells you more about it than any category does.
Jalan Batu Bolong
Length: 1.5 km of retail
Runs inland from Batu Bolong beach and holds the densest run of shops in the district, most of them opened since 2015. Narrow, busy with scooters, and the pavement is largely notional.

Length: The upscale end
Higher price points and more design-led shops, several opened since 2018. This is also where FINNS sits, which makes it the one road with a large retail floor on it.

Jalan Nelayan
Length: Quieter
Fewer shops and more villas, and the one to take when the other two have seized up. Worth walking if you are already staying on it, not worth a trip.

Both main roads are narrow, busy and largely without pavement, and they queue badly from late afternoon. Canggu is the one district where a scooter genuinely beats a car, at Ask For Price for the day.
The one large floor
Canggu is a district of small independents with a single exception, and the exception is worth knowing about before you walk two kilometres of road.
- FINNS Retail and Grand Boutique Jl. Pantai Berawa. About 120 curated labels inside a beach club, with the Grand Boutique alone over 1,500 square metres. Parking on site.
- Everything else Independent shopfronts along Batu Bolong and Berawa. No directory is published for any of them, and the roster turns over fast.
If you are here for one specific shop, message the desk first. In a district with no published directory and a high turnover, that is the difference between a plan and an hour on a scooter.
When to be here
Canggu opens late and closes early, and the roads decide everything in between.

Around ten, though independents drift. Nothing useful happens on these roads before it.

Ride Batu Bolong
The dense stretch, before the road fills. A scooter parks where a car cannot, which matters more here than anywhere else in the guide.

The one place with a large floor, parking and shade. It also happens to be a beach club, which is either the point or the problem.

The roads seize
Both main roads queue from late afternoon and stay that way. Anything you still want to reach, reach before this.

Shops close
Roughly eight, earlier than Seminyak and much earlier than Kuta. The restaurants take over from here.
From the airport it is about 20 kilometres and 45 to 60 minutes. From Seminyak, 10 kilometres and 25 to 40. Neither figure holds after four in the afternoon.

Rewarding if you like discovering shops and have time to lose. Frustrating if you came with a list.
Come if you want

Are there malls?
No. FINNS is the only large retail floor and it sits inside a beach club. For an actual mall the answer is Kuta, 45 minutes south.
