Malls and retail venues
Bali shopping malls, compared
Seventeen venues across four districts, on the axes that decide a visit: where it is, what is inside, what it costs, and whether it fills an afternoon.

The rating is ours, not a measurement, and the table below sets out what goes into it. Where this page and a venue's own page disagreed on a figure, the venue's page won.

Every venue, by district
Bali has no single shopping district. Four clusters carry almost everything, and where you are staying decides which of them is realistic.
Kuta and Legian
Six venues inside four kilometres, and the only cluster you can walk between.
Beachwalk Shopping Center
Open-air, three levels, over 200 tenants, opposite the sand.
Premium
Discovery Shopping Mall
About 3.6 hectares on Kartika Plaza, with rear access to the beach.
Mid
T Galleria by DFS
The island's only dedicated duty-free floor. Covered in our luxury section.
Luxury
Mal Bali Galleria
Open since 1996. Matahari, Hypermart and a cinema, on the bypass junction.
Mid
Park 23
Two kilometres from the airport. Over 60 outlets, cinema and arcade.
Budget to mid
Lippo Mall Kuta
Partly below ground, 500 metres from the beach, over 100 outlets.
Mid
Seminyak and Canggu
Boutiques rather than malls. Small floors, designer labels, premium prices.
Seminyak Village
Two air-conditioned levels, about 30 tenants. Covered in our luxury section.
Premium
Seminyak Square
Open-air and larger, with surf brands and a bookshop. No page here yet.
Mid
FINNS Retail Canggu
About 120 labels inside a beach club. Covered in our luxury section.
Premium
Nusa Dua and Jimbaran
Resort retail, built for guests already inside the enclave.
Bali Collection
Open-air village across eight hectares, with free hotel shuttles. No page here yet.
Premium
Samasta Lifestyle Village
Food-led, opened 2016, at the Jimbaran end. No page here yet.
Mid
Sidewalk Jimbaran
Cinema and cafes on Jalan Raya Uluwatu, opened 2019. No page here yet.
Mid
Denpasar and Sanur
Where residents shop, plus the island's newest mall. Bigger floors, fewer tourists.
Trans Studio Mall Bali
About 120,000 square metres with an indoor theme park of 16 rides.
Mid
Icon Bali Mall
Opened 2024 on Danau Tamblingan, about 88,000 square metres, beachfront.
Premium
Plaza Renon
City-centre lifestyle mall beside Puputan Renon park. Local prices.
Budget to mid
Living World Denpasar
Home and lifestyle led, on Gatot Subroto Timur. No page here yet.
Mid
T Galleria, Seminyak Village and FINNS Retail are covered in full under luxury shopping rather than here, because the question a reader brings to them is different. Everything else without a link is a venue we have not written up yet, listed because leaving it out would make this index less honest, not shorter.

What the rating means
A score with no published method is an advertisement with a number on it. Here is ours, so you can disagree with it on the right grounds.
Getting there
- Earns a mark
- On a main road, under 30 minutes from the south
- Costs a mark
- An hour each way in ordinary traffic
A real tenant list
- Earns a mark
- Named shops we could verify on the floor
- Costs a mark
- A directory nobody publishes
Prices you can see
- Earns a mark
- Marked and fixed on the shelf
- Costs a mark
- Prices quoted only on request
English on the floor
- Earns a mark
- Staff who can answer a question about a product
- Costs a mark
- Signage only, and a translation app
How long it fills
- Earns a mark
- Half a day between shops, food and something else
- Costs a mark
- Forty minutes and you have seen it
No venue pays for a place on this page or for the number beside its name. Where a mall cannot tell us who trades inside it, that counts against it, which is why the newest and glossiest building here is not the highest rated.
Mall questions
Find your matchWhich mall is the best one?
There is no single answer, which is why this page is a table rather than a ranking. Beachwalk for global chains beside the beach, Trans Studio for a day with children, T Galleria for duty-free, Mal Bali Galleria for everyday prices.
Are opening hours the same everywhere?
Almost. Every mall in this silo runs 10:00 to 22:00 daily. The one exception is Joger, which closes at 20:00 at both of its locations. Individual boutiques inside a mall can keep shorter hours than the building.
Is shopping in a Bali mall cheaper than at home?
Usually not on international brands, because you are paying Indonesian retail plus tax. The exceptions are duty-free at T Galleria for departing travellers, and the outlet centre on Serangan for previous-season stock.
Which one is closest to the airport?
Park 23, about two kilometres north in Tuban, which is under ten minutes. T Galleria and Mal Bali Galleria sit on the bypass a little further out, and Beachwalk and Discovery are 15 to 20 minutes.
Do I need a car?
For anything outside your own district, yes. Ride-hailing covers most single trips and quotes the fare before you book. A driver for the day only starts paying for itself at three venues or once you are carrying bags.
Can I bargain in a mall?
No. Mall prices are fixed and marked, which is much of the appeal. Haggling belongs at the art markets in Ubud and Kuta, where it is expected rather than tolerated.
Concierge desk
Three malls in a day, without the traffic
The venues are spread across four districts and the road between them is the whole problem. A driver holding the car turns four separate taxi decisions into one route.
